Imagine

I'm not what you call a couch potato. I don't watch TV, only sometimes. There's only a few shows that pass my "strict" criteria. When I say strict, I mean not a waste of my sewing time. One of the shows I like watching is Glee. It's not so much about the stories but I like the singing.
For every episode, there's always a song I like and last night's episode it was the song, Imagine.

This song is so popular that it gets really boring. But Glee cast version sang together with the Haverbrook School for the Deaf was beautiful.

I realized how beautiful the song is with it's simple lyrics and also makes you realized how lucky we are to have the sense of hearing. I wish you could watch the video but Fox took out all videos posted on youtube I guess due to copyright claims. Anyway, happy listening and how about enjoy browsing my handbags on the right while listening :-)

Motivate Me Friday #7 - The heat is on!

10 weeks to go and the heat is on ... literally!
Here in Sydney, the temperature's been rising and it's not even officially summer yet. So, I got myself a groovy new fan to keep my (I mean, me) cool.

This week, I'm back on track. Said goodbye to Bro and hello to Jano. I love my new machine. I got a bonus extension table. It's sew sew nice!

Here she is sitting pretty on this spacious 'rustic look' timber table I bought from ebay. The thing I like about this table aside from being spacious is the 2 drawers. Don't be deceived by its looks. These drawers are deep, it goes all the way back up to the end of the table. You can pretty much put away lots of stuff.

I know what you're thinking. You can't believe how tidy my workstation is. Well, not really. I have cleaned up the mess for the purpose of this pictorial.

Better not waste the weekend, time is ticking so off to sew I go!

Here's this week's motivational quote:

“Hard work spotlights the character of people. Some turn up their sleeves. Some turn up their noses, and some don’t turn up at all.”

We have a logo!

So what do you think? I never thought it would be so difficult to decide on a logo design. There were several concepts but in the end, I ended up with what I originally had in mind ... something simple. I think it's cute and it really reflects my style!

So long my Bro!

So today I said goodbye to my Brother industrial sewing machine. I've had that machine for exactly 12 months but the time has come for it to go. The buyer was a young lad and an experienced upholsterer so I am confident he will be in good hands.
I have made over a 100 bags from that machine. It is sad to see it go but sewing must go on ... farewell my bro!

Motivate me Friday # 6 - Late Edition

It's been a terrible past week for me.
It started with not being able to do some work due to various reasons. One problem on top of the other. So now I am 2 weeks behind schedule. Not good.

Then I got the nastiest virus in my PC which left me on a standstill. A week with a virus infected computer is not something I would want to have, most especially at this point in time. The virus was a fake message that keeps saying that my PC have all these viruses (which I actually don't) and it just goes on to "scan" but really, it's all a fake! It's just to lure the user to click on the virus scanner to get more and more viruses. And even if you don't really click on it, it would still "scan" so really I was stuffed! Then it just wouldn't stop opening all these rude websites, block all my files, block all websites and most of all, it would also block any legitimate virus scanner I would install. Nasty, nasty ... the nastiest virus I have ever encountered!

A very stressful week, adding to that a broken car which slapped me with a huge service bill and the finale of the disastrous week, 39 degrees weather! The only good thing about last week was that I was able to get myself a brand new sewing machine for a very, very good price (1/2 the normal price plus $300 worth of bonus) which means that I got my new sewing machine valued at $1299 for only $579.

Oh well ... sewing must go on! I will upload pictures next time but for now there's a lot of catching up to do. By the way, has anyone noticed my new look blog? I've got exciting news coming soon.

My motivational quote for today:

The achievement of your goal is assured the moment you commit yourself to it. ~Mack R Douglas ... (so true!)

Motivate Me Friday #4

I am giving myself a big pat on the back for being so productive this week. My clutches are done (well ... almost!). These clutches will come in various designs and due for release in February 2010. I am not very good at keeping secrets so here's a sneak peek ...

Since I have achieved something this week, I think this might be appropriate:

Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don't know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is.
~ Anne Frank

And by the way, I have been thinking about what I am doing and keep wondering if this is worth it. I don't know what lies ahead ... it is a risk!

Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

Miss Kikay

Miss Kikay has arrived, look at her she is so cute. She's made of wrought iron in vintage brown. She's got a pretty "dress" and even has a ribbon.

She is such a pretty ornamental mannequin and looks stunning in my studio.

Here she is modelling her very own bags.

Ready to Ramble

For the past week and a half, my cutter, scissors and tape measure were my best buddies.

It's time to put them aside (for a short break) while I turn my attention to all the cut fabrics, all ready to ramble!

The threads are ready and the indie bro can't wait to turn the heat on.

In the next week, I'm going to sew and sew and turn these beautiful cut fabrics into clutches!
